BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT: Local app maker offers holiday cheer

Captain Moustache — the Michigan-based Web applications company, which has launched several applications for Apple users — has developed the Simple Christmas app for all iProduct devices. Simple Christmas allows users to create unlimited configurations of trees and wreaths using festive decorations and backgrounds to spread holiday cheer.

Much like the Captain’s first two apps, Simple Fruit Bowl and Simple Pumpkin Face, the Simple Christmas app is designed to allow users to create Christmas themed images to share with family and friends over e-mail or Facebook.

co-founder Roy Krauthamer, an Internet marketing executive, developed Simple Christmas to bring yuletide greetings at an affordable price.

“I worked in retail for years during the holiday season and realize that the shopping expenses can become exorbitant. Simple Christmas app is not only fun for people to make — it can offset the cost of cards or even be given as a gift to a friend,” Krauthamer said.

co-founder Michael Weinstein has his own ideas for the Simple Christmas app.

“Being Jewish, I never got to have a tree growing up — this is my tree … without the pine needles,” he said.

The Captain believes applications provide affordable entertainment for consumers to optimize their electronic experience without denting their wallets. Simple Christmas is priced at $0.99 and available in the Apple App Store.
